War on the USA

Donnie Dictator has launched a new war against Iran, a continuation of his old war against the United States of America. He’s been at war with any semblance of a “United States” since he first rode down that golden escalator. He wants the nation divided, and so divided we are.

Of course he did it in his usual style—violating both the US Constitution and international law. Declaring that he is the only law he cares about.

Once again, this is not what the majority of Americans asked for. Most oppose it, especially in blue states. That includes many states around the country that are not in alignment with the so-called “United States” anymore.

Though it’s a problem for all blue states, I’ve been focusing my writing on the contiguous landmass of blue Pacific states—Washington, Oregon, and California. We are especially not aligned with the current direction of this country.

And if we’re being honest, it’s not just a problem with the current administration. We are living in a nation of irreconcilable divisions. That reality will remain long after this regime has passed. The collective illusion of any “United States” is harder to maintain every passing moment.

To add injury to insult, the tyrant is now using his ill-conceived, illegal war to declare emergency powers to drill for oil off the California coast. The California government doesn’t want it; the people of California don’t want it. It’s basically an environmental disaster that any rational person would oppose. But there’s nothing Donnie Dictator loves more than dictating to his opponents what they must accept, whether we like it or not. And the California coast is far away from Mar-a-Lago.

Let’s also acknowledge the reality that Pacific states contribute a disproportionate amount of tax money to the federal coffers. Tax money that is now going to bomb children in Iran instead of helping children in our own states.

Again, I must ask: Why choose to remain in a toxic federal relationship when we could do so much better on our own?

How many more abuses and indignities must we suffer before we look seriously at our other options?
